1st Executive Committee Meeting
The newly formed Executive Committee convened to set priorities for the year.
The SSSB will observe World Soil Day in a festive mood, as in previous years.
World Soil Day (WSD) is observed annually on 5 December to draw attention to the importance of healthy soil and to promote the sustainable management of soil resources. It was recommended by the IUSS, endorsed at the 2013 FAO Conference, and recognised by the UN General Assembly.
The 2025 theme, “Healthy Soils for Healthy Cities,” focuses on urban soils and the challenges of soil sealing — where natural soil is covered by impermeable materials that can worsen flooding and reduce groundwater recharge.
